Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the WSDOT Qualified Products List process.

What is the Qualified Products List (QPL)?

The QPL is a listing of products that have been evaluated and approved for use on WSDOT construction projects. Products are listed by Standard Specification section.

How do I get a product on the QPL?

Manufacturers must submit a product for evaluation by the WSDOT State Materials Laboratory. See the WSDOT Qualified Product List page for specific requirements, submission procedures, and contact information.

What are Acceptance Codes?

Acceptance Codes define the criteria used to determine whether a product meets WSDOT specifications. Each product on the QPL has an assigned acceptance code that describes the testing and documentation requirements.

How do I search for a product?

You can search by manufacturer name and location, or by Standard Specification section. Use the Product Search page to find qualified products.

What is an HMA Mix Design?

HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt) Mix Designs are evaluated and approved by the WSDOT State Materials Laboratory. Components of the Mix Design must be approved prior to submitting for evaluation. A "Contract Specific" Reference Mix Design is required for all Statistical HMA to be placed.

How often is the QPL updated?

The QPL is updated as products are evaluated and approved or as existing product information changes. Check the date updated field on individual product listings for the most recent change.

Who do I contact for questions about the QPL?

Visit the Contact page and select "Qualified Products List" as the topic. The Materials Lab team will respond within two business days.
